Medicaid Braces

Being an expert orthodontist, we receive a lot of questions from people looking for expert advice as well as the cost for the orthodontic treatment. People usually question us about whether we accept Medicaid or Medical Card (Public Aid or All kids) and how it goes about orthodontic treatment. So let’s just have a look at the information that we have been asked for, by many of you and learn how we can be your ultimate orthodontic service provider.

What is Medicaid?

Medicaid is actually a government funded health care program offered by state and federal governments. It provides affordable health coverage plans to all the eligible adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities.

Does Medicaid Cover Braces for All?

States are required to provide orthodontic services to children to the extent necessary to prevent disease and promote oral health and restore oral structures to proper health and functionality. So, all the children who are enrolled with Medicaid may receive dental coverage from any infection and pain relief to regular checkups.

Colorado offers two Medicaid braces programs – All Kids and Family Care Program

All Kids insurance programs are aimed at providing health care coverage to the children from low-income families while Family Care Program covers children with their parents. Both programs assist in paying for orthodontic treatments such as braces and Invisalign.

How Can I Get Braces with Medicaid?

Bear in mind that Medicaid covers orthodontic treatment only for children less than 21 years of age. There are some other new dental benefits of Medicaid braces for adults but this does not extend to the braces or orthodontics. So, if you are an adult with medicaid coverage, you might not get the braces covered by Medicaid. And only for this reason, we offer a large variety of payment options such as care credit, flexible payment plans, and no down payments.

How Much Do Braces Cost with Medicaid?

If your orthodontic needs are declared “medically necessary” we are the orthodontist that takes Medicaid for braces and can help you find out if your Medicaid insurance will cover the cost for braces. It is important to note that Medicaid will not cover braces for adults for free but Medicaid orthodontic coverage can help to pay for most of the costs for your child’s braces, as these are also not completely free.

What other Orthodontic Treatments are Covered by Medicaid?

It is important to note that only comprehensive phase II orthodontic treatment with braces can be covered by the All Kids insurance program.  It is necessary that your child must have all the permanent teeth to be considered for All kids orthodontic coverage as no early or interceptive treatment other than braces such as upper jaw expansion, growth modification, and multiple other fixed or removable orthodontic appliances is covered by All Kids and Public Aid Plans. However, if your child still requires the braces after interceptive treatment, an pre-approval can be submitted to the Medicaid administrator when all the baby teeth of your child have been lost.

Where Can I Get Braces with Medicaid?

At orthodontic experts, you can book a no-cost consultation appointment where our orthodontist will examine your child by taking all necessary photographs, x-rays, teeth molds and measurements and along with our orthodontic team will discuss your child’s treatment plan. After discussion with you, an orthodontic case will be submitted for a pre-approval which generally takes 3-4 weeks for the evaluation by the All Kids and Medicaid Administrator. Once we receive the approval, our expert orthodontic team will contact you as soon as possible.

Orthodontic Experts accept All Kids insurance plans and provide Public Aid (All Kids) orthodontic treatment to the residents of Colorado in various locations.
